who am I to ask for any of it over?

photographs

I love photography. I try to take as many photographs as I can and share the decent ones with you on this site. I shoot film, mostly black-and-white that I develop myself at home, and print in my makeshift darkroom. There have been five hundred and sixty-three photos posted so far.

Equipment

Just so you know, when it comes to making a decent photograph what you hold in your hand isn’t nearly as important as what’s between your ears. Having said that, the following is what I use. Most gear was purchased used.

Cameras

Mamiya C33 medium format TLR, Bronica SQ-A medium format SLR, Contax G1 35mm rangefinder, Zero Image 6x6 pinhole, Holga, Polaroid ProPack.

Lenses

I have a 55mm, 80mm and 135mm for the Mamiya C33. The Bronica has an 80mm Zenzanon-S. The Contax G1 has a 45mm/f2 Zeiss T* Planar that is magically delicious.

Tripod

Slik Pro 500DX with a handful of quick shoes.

Meter

Gossen Lunasix 3. Measures down into really low light.

Filters

52mm thread: Hoya Yellow #8, Tiffen Deep Yellow #21, Tiffen Green #11, Hoya Red #25, Tiffen ND 0.3, Tiffen ND 0.6.

67mm thread: Tiffen Yellow #8, Tiffen Deep Yellow #21, Tiffen Green #11, Tiffen Red #25, Tiffen ND 0.3, Tiffen ND 0.6.

Enlarger

Saunders/LPL C6600 Condenser with Saunders 50/3.5 and Meopta Anaret S 80/4.5 lenses. Apparently the enlarger began its life in a Bridgewater, NS photo lab.

Darkroom stuff

Ilford EM10 enlarging exposure meter, Ilford Multigrade filters, Saunders 4 blade 14x17 adjustable easel, Gralab 505 digital timer with foot pedal, 4 8x10 trays, 3 11x14 trays, tongs, canned air, red safelight.

Film

For black and white it’s mostly Fuji Neopan (400) and Acros (100). They both have fantastic grain, beautiful tone, work really well in XTOL, nice clear bases and dry flat. There’s a bunch of other B&W in the fridge: Efke R50, Maco IR820, Kodak 320TXP and 400TX, heck even some original Agfapan 100 and 400.

For colour, it’s Kodak Portra 160NC. I typically shoot film at box speed (or close to it).

Film Chemicals

Developer is mostly Kodak XTOL mixed one-shot in various dilutions. If I run out it’s Kodak D76 or HC-110. Kodak Stop Bath. Kodak Fixer. Kodak Hypo-Clearing Agent. Kodak Photo-Flo.

Paper

Ilford MGIV resin-coated in various surfaces and sizes. Oriental variable-contrast, double-weight, fibre-based.

Paper Chemicals

Kodak Dektol. Ilford Selenium Toner. Kodak Stop bath. Kodak Fixer.

Miscellaneous

2 6x6 Bronica SQ-i film backs, Bronica Speed Grip, Lowepro Primus AW backpack for hiking, Crumpler 4- and 7-Million Dollar Home shoulder bags for not-hiking, Lowepro and Tiffen filter wallets, Lowepro film case, Lowepro lens cases, cable releases, plastic 120 film containers, tape, lens cleaners/duster, Leatherman multitool, rainproof paper, pencils.
